Cynthia Jackson Elmoore, Dean

The Honors College at Michigan State University, established in 1956 by faculty as one of the first and most distinctive honors programs in higher education, serves academically talented, students.  The key objective of the Honors College is to challenge and enhance the undergraduate experience by providing academic rigor and flexibility. With more than 50 years rich in educational innovation and student achievement, the College must continue to maintain academic excellence and provide more challenging and substantial programs to our students.

The Honors College has a great tradition of excellence.  Our students are consistently recognized for their accomplishments in research and academic studyThe College must remain competitive to recruit the very best students, as well as, expand and enhance the academic opportunities for our students to work side-by-side with renowned faculty that are on par with those at the most prestigious institutions in the world.

We want to ensure that all high-achieving Honors students can take advantage of these exceptional offerings without worrying about their financial situation.  Ideally, we want to offer scholarship support to every Honors College member.  An annual gift to the Enhanced Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Opportunities Fund directly supports the undergraduate learning and research experiences that have become the hallmarks of the Honors College program.  Likewise, a contribution to The Golden Opportunity Scholarship Endowment not only eases the financial burden for our students, but also keeps the Honors College competitive in attracting and retaining the highest-achieving students.
