The Campaign for MSU now focuses on the restoration of the remaining three buildings along Laboratory Row - Cook Hall, Old Botany, and Chittenden hall - and the creation of the Sesquicentennial Gardens that visually will link them. For all three of the buildings, the following work remains to be completed:
- Address mechanical, electrical, and structural needs
* Remove all accumulated maintenance needs
* Build systems that are code compliant: life safety and accessibility
- Upgrade data, voice and video connectivity
- Reconfigure interiors to respect historic features but accommodate contemporary program needs
- Renew exteriors through masonry repair, cleaning, and tuck pointing, window replacement, and foundation and roof repair, while maintaining and restoring historically important architectural features
The following individual sections introduce you to the historical significance of the three buildings, the history for each based on MSU Campus - Buildings, Places, Space, a new book written by MSU faculty members Dr. Linda Stanford and Dr. Kurt Dewhurst in celebration of the Sesquicentennial. Each section also includes information about the total restoration costs and a listing of giving opportunities.
We hope you not only enjoy this information, but find that it inspires you to support this important Sesquicentennial project.
