In February, President Lou Anna K. Simon hosted a brunch and seminars in Naples, Florida, to connect and inspire Florida Spartans. Sponsored by Huntington Bank, the event included a live demonstration of simulation medical training by College of Human Medicine faculty and students. Newly appointed College of Education Dean Donald Heller also presented on the challenges facing American education.

Sparty and members of the drum line will lead the RING MARCH from to the Spartan statue, down beautiful West Circle Drive to Beaumont Tower. The 2011 Presidents Brunch before the Central Michigan football game highlighted two MSU scholarship recipients and the endowment holders who made their scholarship awards possible. An annual celebration that the Spartan community of donors holds dear, the September 24 event also included remarks from Coach Mark Dantonio, Athletics Director Mark Hollis, Trustee Joel Ferguson and President Lou Anna K. Simon. Guests went on to cheer the Spartans to victory against Central Michigan University.
2011 Annual Celebration of MSU in Southeast Michigan
President Lou Anna K. Simon hosted a tour, reception and dinner in downtown Detroit to celebrate MSU in Southeast Michigan. The evening included a tour of Detroit Urban Agriculture sites hosted by Dr. Michael Hamm, C.S. Mott Professor of Sustainable Agriculture. A dinner was held in the suite of sponsoring hosts Kitch, Drutchas, Wagner, Valitutti & Sherbrook.

The 2010 Grand Awards Ceremony was held at the Kellogg Center on October 14th during Homecoming Week.
2011 MSUFCU champions study abroad
When MSU set the unprecedented goal of providing all undergraduate students with an opportunity to study abroad, the MSU Federal Credit Union was at the forefront in support, creating the MSUFCU Study Abroad Scholarship Program. The scholarships are funded in perpetuity through MSUFCU’s generous $2.5 million gift. During the 2009-2010 academic year, 140 students received MSUFCU scholarships to study in 41 countries at locations ranging from South Korea to South Africa, Israel to Italy, Bangladesh to Belgium and Australia to Argentina. A luncheon was recently held to celebrate the MSUFCU scholarships.

Michigan State University coaches traveled to Chicago on May 19, 2010, sharing a lunch with donors, visiting local elementary school children, and attending an evening tailgate with area Spartans at Navy Pier.
Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum Groundbreaking
Construction for MSU’s Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum began March 16 with a groundbreaking for the building, designed by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid. The facility is named in honor of Eli and Edythe Broad, longtime supporters of the university who provided the lead gift for the museum. The Broads’ gift of $28 million, with $21 million designated for construction of the building and $7 million to be used for acquisitions, exhibitions and operations, was the catalyst for the world-class project.
MSU-FCU Study Abroad Scholarship Luncheon
MSU Federal Credit Union Study Abroad Luncheon. Held on 2/3/2010 at the University Club. Speakers include President Simon, Provost Wilcox, Jeff Riedinger dean of International Studies and Programs, and comments from selected student who received scholarships from MSUFCU.
2010 President's Basketball Reception
Nearly 600 Donors, alumni, and friends were hosted by President Lou Anna K. Simon and Dr. Roy J. Simon for a reception event at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center on Jan. 16 before the MSU vs. Illinois men's basketball game. The crowd heard from Head Coach Tom Izzo, Trustee Joel Ferguson, Athletic Director Mark Hollis, Vice President for University Advancement Bob Groves, and President Simon.
2009 President's Dinner, Oct. 23
Alumni, donors, and friends enjoyed a pre-game dinner before the MSU vs. Iowa football game. President Simon, Vice President for University Advancement Bob Groves, Trustee Melanie Foster, Athletic Director Mark Hollis, Head Football Coach Mark Dantonio, and several MSU student scholarship recipients addressed the crowd.
2009 Thanks for Giving Luncheon
The annual "Thanks for Giving" luncheon was held on Nov. 2 to honor those members of the MSU community who have made gifts to MSU of at least $1,000 in the past year, or who are recognized in one of MSU's donor societies. Nearly 500 faculty, staff and retiree donors packed Kellogg Center Big Ten Rooms to enjoy a delicious lunch and the company of fellow Spartans.
MSU 2009 Final Four Donor Luncheon
The MSU men's basketball team made the Final Four of the 2009 NCA tournament at Detroit's Ford Field, capturing the nation's attention for two weeks with their inspired run. Donors and friends gathered to celebrate with other Spartans at a luncheon held at the team hotel, the Somerset Inn in Troy, hosted by President Lou Anna K. Simon and Dr. Roy J. Simon on April 4, 2009.
MSU 2009 Coaches on the Road, SE Michigan
On June 5, 2009 MSU coaches went on the road to Southeast Michigan, making a stop in the Brightmore neighborhood. Spartans also gathered at Rock Financial Showplace to enjoy an evening tailgate.
