Who We Are

The Michigan State University Solar Racing Team is currently working on building an all-new, single-occupant, solar-electric vehicle, and we need your help! Our team is comprised of around 100 undergraduate engineering students united by the goal to create a sustainable and compelling transportation alternative. By designing, manufacturing, and testing these innovative vehicles, we aim to showcase the cutting edge of electric vehicle and solar power technology. Our goal with our new car, named Cynisca, is to make our most competitive vehicle. With this new solar car, our team has been focusing on precision and organized engineering practices to produce the most visually appealing car yet, both inside and out. Our vehicle is designed to be asymmetric - something never before implemented by our team in our 22-year history of solar racing. We are designing an all new battery pack with a capacity of 4.9 kWh, which provides 133V to our all-new electrical systems including dual electric motors. Additionally, our solar array will be about 1kW.

Help the Solar Racing Team Win Gold!

In the summer of 2024, we will be competing in two separate competitions: the Formula Sun Grand Prix (FSGP) and the American Solar Challenge (ASC). FSGP is a track race which is the qualifier race for ASC - an intense 1,500 mile-long race between multiple cities across the country over the course of seven tough days. With your support, we will be able to finish the necessary improvements needed to come home with gold!

Project Budget

Our team is working to raise $100,000 to pay for the materials needed to build every part of this vehicle. From the body of the car to our electrical systems, the students design and test most of the parts of the car. We need your help to raise the money to build this car and attend competition! We thank you in advance for your support!
